Our software engineers continue to lead the way building technology that can have a real impact on our customers. Our programme will give you exposure to a selection of the latest technologies. It aims to equip you with the right knowledge and skills to become one of our future engineering leaders. You will be able to bring your knowledge and experience to life, helping us to better serve our customers. We’ll also show you how to architect some of the most complex and challenging software systems being built. Using agile principles, you will learn how to protect customer data, how to automate and how to build large scale systems.
You will experience the breadth of software engineering with the opportunity to spend time in several teams including our front and back end development teams as well as a placement in Tesco Labs too. You will be paired with other engineers in your team and work closely with your product managers to build software for either our customers or colleagues.
We’re keen to see a passion for technology. It’s not vital you have a degree in computer science but you must have a demonstrable aptitude for quality coding. We’re looking for logical thinkers who are keen to learn and build their skills along with enjoying the challenge of working with something new.
We kick off our graduate programmes with an induction where you will learn more about our business and your programme plus it’s a great opportunity for you to meet your cohort. You will then be introduced to your team where you will get to know more about the area you will be working in.
Within the first six months you will spend two weeks working in one of our stores which you will be able to select from our store list. You will find out more about this at your induction. The time you will spend in store will help you to learn how our stores operate, how they link to your role and help you to understand our customers.
You will experience a range of rotational placements which will help to give you a breadth of knowledge about your area and our business. You will find out more about your placements during your induction.
We encourage self-led development and we support this with a range of e-learning and face to face learning sessions. You will be able to use your own initiative to identify your own learning needs and choose the right training for you. You will also have the opportunity to learn from others to help you grow your skills.
