Salary: £28,000
What you need: 2:2 degree
Location: across the UK
Programme start date: 5 September 2022
Application deadline - CLOSED
Our new two-year Retail graduate programme will ensure you gain a breadth of valuable retail experience early in your career. You'll have the opportunity to work in different store formats, from our small Express stores to our large Extra stores, as well as a Distribution Centre (DC) or Customer Fulfilment Centre (CFC). Through diverse placements, plus a head office project, you'll see how different parts of the business work hand-in-hand to serve customers a little better every day.
Colleagues in our stores are making a difference for customers with a friendly, flexible approach, while DC and CFC colleagues make sure customers can get the right products, at the right time, and at the level of quality they've come to expect from us. As a Retail graduate, you'll be understanding what matters for our customers and inspiring a team of colleagues to put customers at the heart of everything we do. We'll support you in gaining vital management skills to help you lead and develop your team.
We’re looking for graduates with an energetic and enthusiastic attitude, not forgetting a passion for retail! You’ll love a challenge and be able to think on your feet. The real success in this role will come from working as part of a team and being great with people.
Sounds like the programme for you? Click here to read about our Application process and let us know if you need support.
For each of your three roles, we’ll place you in a store, DC or CFC that maximises your opportunity for development. To support you getting a breadth of experience, you might need to re-locate after six months, and again after your first year.
Induction
We’ll kick off with a two-day induction, where you’ll learn more about our business and your programme. It’s a great opportunity for you to meet your fellow graduates.
Store familiarisation
You’ll spend your first two weeks moving around a store, broadening your understanding of how our stores operate and how they’re measured, so you can serve our customers a little better every day. You'll quickly take on responsibility, developing skills to become a Team Manager in a large store within your first six months.
Programme structure
We want you to gain a broad knowledge of our business so, after your large store placement, you'll have the opportunity to gain experience in an Express store, DC or CFC. You might prefer to stay in a large store and manage the Dot Com department, leading the team of pickers and delivery drivers that fulfil online orders. We'll then support you to move into a management role with more responsibility for your second year.
Where next?
Throughout your programme you’ll be encouraged to think about your future at Tesco, looking at opportunities to develop skills and experience that will be useful in your next role and in years to come. As you finish your programme, you should be well-equipped to excel in a retail role that plays to your unique strengths and interests.
