Food - the food guru

Food is the heart of Tesco.

The Food department is a fast-paced place to be. First and foremost, we have to respond to the way our customers shop in the ever-changing multi-channel retail environment. We work with suppliers from a local to global level to provide our customers with great quality food, and great value for money.

We’re passionate about our innovative products too – like our new meal kits! We’re perfectionists: the berries have to be the juiciest, and the lemons the zingiest.

On this two year programme previous graduates have gone on to use insight to become customer experts, buy brilliant quality food and work with farmers to strengthen Tesco partnerships. There’s a whole range of opportunity in the basket here at Tesco.

If working in the Food department of the UK’s largest supermarket sounds like it’s for you, apply now!

Buying, Selling and Product Transformation: what’s the difference?

A Buyer works closely with our suppliers to ensure that we’re sourcing the right products. A role in Selling helps the department to understand the trends to provide customers with what they want. A role within Product Transformation looks at the ways we buy and sell, our process and ways to improve these so that our internal teams have the right information and systems to be able to give our customers a fantastic shopping experience.

Training: Insights

As a graduate you will be supported through your programme with great training which will enable you to develop both your technical skills and leadership skills. Our Insights training course supports our apprentices to learn more about themselves and their style. These training days are done alongside fellow apprentices and graduates, so they're a great opportunity to network too!

Product Development

Our graduates work closely with Product Development to help Tesco create innovative products in line with customer trends. From working on products for our Christmas range to supporting the business with their pledge to reduce food waste, there's lot of exciting projects to get involved with.
