Stores Graduate Programme (This Job is now closed)

If you’re ready to work in a fast-paced industry, dealing with different people every day, and want to become part of our senior management team in our stores, then this is the programme for you. You could work in stores of all sizes, get the opportunity to be part of the management team and experience managing people and operations. From day one, you’ll experience all that Tesco has to offer from a stores point of view and you’ll be helping to serve our customers, communities and planet a little better everyday.

What happens when the programme ends? The Graduate Programme is designed to set you up to be ready for your next role in Tesco.

Experience different departments

After your induction, you’ll start in-store training, spending time on each department of the store to broaden your understanding of the retail operation. Here you’ll become the customer’s best friend and learn even more about our store standards, delivering on targets, managing a team of colleagues, and above all, delivering great service to our customers. You will then commence Line Manager training, developing your technical and managerial skills. Your support network will be at hand to help you all along the way.

Building your knowledge

During your second placement on the programme you will complete Senior Team Development training and work in a Lead Role Manager placement. This may sound daunting but don’t worry, you’ll be supported by other managers in the store and we bet you’ll be great at it. You will also be invited to core learning and networking experiences with the other Graduates in Tesco.

Building your management experience

As this programme is designed to give you the training and on-the-job experience to become part of the Senior Team, we want you to see the ins and outs of every area within a store. You’ll spend time in various departments and roles and you'll be learning on-the-job all the time. Finally, you’ll shadow a Store Manager. This is where you’ll learn how to run a store and understand more about the exciting challenges and opportunities a Store Manager faces daily.

Be a senior manager before the end of the programme

You’ll finish the programme with a placement as a member of the Senior Team within a store. The placement role will depend on the progress you’ve made up to this point and is a great opportunity for you to put your training and experience into practice. We know that the experience over the course of the programme will stand to our Graduates in this placement.
