Technology Product and Programme Manager - the problem solver

Technology continues to change the face of retail and ours leads the way.

We’re passionate about serving our shoppers a little better every day, and that’s why we worked with our Marketing department to invent Clubcard and develop Brand Guarantee.

We also care about our people, especially graduates. We want to help you have the best start to your career by providing training to give you the right skills and experience. That’s why you get responsibilities from day one – you’ll learn fast! From redesigning the grocery home shopping (GHS) website, to working on our new checkout systems, previous graduates have quickly learned how to maximise the systems they managed!

You’ll rotate around the department on this one year programme, so your experience will be wide and varied. From responding to urgent technology issues to working with colleagues across Tesco to deliver a new  system, you’ll need to use your leadership skills to help create industry-leading technology.

If you’re as passionate as we are, about serving our shoppers a little better every day through innovative technology, what are you waiting for? Apply today.

What we’re looking for

While it’s not vital you have a degree in computer science, we’re keen to see your passion for technology. We want to know that you understand the principles that help us drive continual improvement for colleagues and customers across our estate.

How we’ll support you

You’ll get the usual - a mentor, a buddy and a supportive line manager, but you’ll also get technical development through our monthly programme and product guilds to deepen your understanding of the world of technology. Alongside the buddy, mentor and supportive line manager, we’ll also offer you technical skills training via QA (external classroom training), Pluralsight and Codeschool.

How our product and programme teams work

Product managers seek out customers’ problems and work out how to solve them. They’re incredibly innovative and strive to use different technologies to serve our customers. Programme mangers balance the complex and competing needs of customers, colleagues and technology to deliver change across multiple products.

Application process

Online application

This is your first chance to tell us about you!

Online test

These tests can be done in the comfort of your own home and help us to understand you a little better.

Video and telephone interview

You'll then be asked to do a video interview, which can be done in the comfort of your own home like the online tests. You can re-record your answers, so don't panic! The focus of this interview is your leadership skills. If you're successful at this stage, you'll be invited to do a telephone interview with someone from our tech team to help us understand your knowledge and passion for technology.

Assessment centre

If you're successful in your telephone interview, you'll be invited to an assessment centre which includes a face-to-face interview, a group exercise, a presentation, and a task to help us see your technology skills in practice.
